Norton Grange Coastal Village

Coastal Walks from Yarmouth to the Needles in West Wight, Isle of Wight

The story of Norton Grange , a wonderful chalet village which gazes out over the glorious western Solent, begins appropriately with a double-first. For the understatedly pretty nearby port of Yarmouth was not only the first recorded town on the Isle of Wight, but also the very first port to be discussed in the Domesday Book.

With stunning sea views, yachts sailing by, tropical plants and palm trees creating a must-see landscape. Meals are lavish, the live entertainment is exciting and the 208 chalets themselves are comfortable. What's more, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.

There's so much to do here with the beach on your doorstep. Have a swim in our sparkling indoor pool; have a laugh playing pub games, snooker and darts. Our extensive sports and leisure facilities are all provided for your enjoyment.

New at Norton Grange for 2009 we have a stunning new multi-level decked terrace with outstanding views of the Solent. During June, July & Auguist we will serve your meals on the terrace so you can enjoy the fine weather and the view. Also on Sundays in July and August you can look forward to a Pimms, barbeque and a live band while relaxing in front of the sea.

Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with many facilities to make time fly – fitness studio, swimming pool and bubble pool, sauna and solarium, all weather outdoor bowls green, short mat bowls, games room with billiards to name a few

Norton Grange is remarkable not only for its many things to do, but also for its stunning views of the Solent and the pretty town of Yarmouth. Looking around at the tropical palms and the holiday atmosphere, you could mistake it for further afield! Enjoy the pretty landscaped gardens and look out for the rabbits – Norton Grange is famous for them!

Of course, there’s plenty to appreciate of the Isle of Wight’s stirring military history, some of it within easy walking distance of Norton Grange . A stroll along the sea wall will take you to Fort Victoria; built in the 1850s, this defensive redoubt later became a submarine centre and is now home to a maritime museum, a planetarium, an aquarium, a model railway and a café commanding superlative views of the sea. You’ll also enjoy a picturesque, coastline-hugging country park rich with flora and fauna. Or why not follow the sea wall in the opposite direction? This takes you the scenic route to Yarmouth, with its charming medley of art deco, Regency and medieval styles, including a Tudor castle raised by Henry VIII.
Then there’s the bigger splendour of Carisbrooke Castle, the natural geology of the Needles, and a few surprises: Newchurch’s annual Garlic Festival, celebrating the pungent bulb’s status as a popular export to France. Or the many rabbits in Yarmouth, or the palm trees which lend the locale an almost tropical air. Unsurprising, however, is the warmth of welcome from the moment you arrive at
Norton Grange : a gemstone of the western Solent.
