Gunton Hall Coastal Village
A foot in both counties on the border between Suffolk and Norfolk
Just 45 minutes to the north-west you can be enjoying the Norfolk Broads; to the east, the English Channel, from where in the 9th century Vikings appeared and ravaged the settlement then known as Guntone or Guston.

As a coastal resort, Gunton Hall’s gladed setting couldn’t be bettered. Its comfortable chalets are laced around 50 acres of grounds, with a carefullytended walled garden, secluded woodland and freshwater fishing lake, all close enough to the expansive East Anglian beach to make the short stroll a formality.
Yet further afield you’ll discover a most genteel stretch of the English coastline. A short trip south takes you to the civilised coastal towns of Lowestoft, Southwold and Aldeburgh while the city of Norwich and its mighty cathedral is a mere one hour away.
For 2009 we've been working with our friends at Hiller Garden Centres and Andy McIndoe (who has won over 60 Chelsea gold medals) to remodel the extensive gardens to create even more areas of interest for our guests and visitors to explore. Plus, we have undertaken the complete refurblishment of the Regency Lounge with comfy new sofas and armchairs. It's now a even better place for reading, board games or just generally relaxing and taking it easy.
Gunton Hall has a huge variety of things to do, from a mini bowling alley to a four rink bowls indoor complex; full leisure facilities like a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and fitness studio, pampering with Decléor therapies*, cycle hire*, indoor and outdoor games like snooker and pool, croquet and pitch ‘n putt.

Gunton Hall has pretty, well kept gardens with woodland and a freshwater fishing lake for angling (seasonal, rod licence required).
Beyond the resort you needn’t go far for the local attractions, either; the seaside town of Southwold, the sunken Saxon port of Dunwich, the city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedral all are within a short drive. Closer still is Lowestoft, whose world-famous porcelain said to be superior even to Delftware has its origins in the fine clay discovered near Gunton Hall in the 18th Century. A fittingly delicate piece of history, then, for such a genteel and civilised setting and one that underwrites the perfect coastal chalet break.
