Company Background Going Places is one of the UK's leading high street travel agents and part of the Thomas Cook Group of Companies, which in turn is part of the MyTravel Group. The group came into being in 1972, when founder David Crosland purchased Pendle Travel Services, a travel agency comprising two stores in Lancashire. The Group expanded, developing package holidays from the early eighties, becoming one of the most popular UK holiday companies. Product Range Going Places offers flights and holidays from established and well-respected tour operators including Airtours, Aspro, Bridge, Cosmos, Cresta, Escapades, Eurostar, First Choice, Manos, Panorama, Thomson, Thomas Cook and others. In partnership with a range of selected tour operators, they annually arrange millions of departures to thousands of destinations. Scheduled Flights Going Places offer a wide range of scheduled flights to destinations including Rome, Sydney, New York and Dubai. Scheduled flights offer flexibility of departure time and duration, extra baggage allowance, extra legroom and in-flight meals. Going Places offers a choice of scheduled airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, American Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Etihad Airlines, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, and KLM/Air France. Charter Flights A charter flight is one that takes place outside the normal schedules, by a hiring arrangement with a particular tour operator. Going Places offers a choice of charter flight airlines including the closely allied Thomas Cook Airlines, along with First Choice and Monarch Airlines. Cheap flights to the USA with Delta, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines and American Airlines are available, along with last minute flights to Europe and elsewhere. Ongoing Promotions On-line Discounts Going Places offers discounts for booking on-line with tour operators Airtours, Aspro, Escapades, Manos and Panorama. These operators are also part of Thomas Cook Retail Limited. If any holiday from these operators can be found within 24 hours of on-line booking, Going Places offer to refund the difference in price. On-line booking is not currently available, with Going Places for First Choice, Thomson, Thomas Cook, Cosmos or Eurostar. However, on-line booking is likely to be available soon. Payment Methods Following the merger with Thomas Cook, on-line systems are being aligned. This development is taking longer than anticipated and at the service for viewing bookings or paying on-line is unavailable. This was expected to be resolved by late April, but was still not available as of 1st May. Any remaining balance is required to be paid 8 weeks before departure date. Payment can be made over the phone with major credit/debit cards or in person by cash /cheque. Cancellations Only the "lead" passenger who made the booking can make any amendments.
