We are Gary and Karen Price from Dover in Kent, we are both in our early forties, married, with two teenage daughters and a pet dog! We got started as Herbalife Distributors just 3 years ago. . . .
Q. What was your background?
Karen: We have run a decorating business for over twenty years and have built it to a good income level, this afforded us the luxury of me being a stay at home mum. Although the money allowed us to live comfortably we were trapped within our earning level, unable to expand our current business and with few options to do anything different as decorating was all that we really knew.
Q. So how did you find the business opportunity?
Gary: We were very dissatisfied with our situation but honestly didn’t believe there was anything out there. Herbalife found us when I quoted for some decorating work. I visited the home of a couple our age but who were obviously very successful.
I got the decorating job and whilst working at their house realised that not only were this couple doing extremely well, but, they were achieving this ‘working from home‘. One day I got chatting with David (the husband) about what they did, and he gave me a DVD to look at. The DVD got my attention, it showed me that people just like us were already having wonderful success with the opportunity and what more it told me that we could do it too!
Initially both Karen & myself were very sceptical, Karen more so than I but we figured that we had nothing to lose by taking a proper look at the opportunity. We attended an Opportunity meeting where we met other people looking for the first time and others who were already doing it - it was the best thing we could have done, it answered all our questions and helped us get off to a flying start.
Q. So what happened in the first few months?
Karen: Gary got started on the products and lost 15lb in two weeks, over Christmas! He went on to lose 35lbs in total. Despite this, I was still sceptical and didn’t start on the program until January but then I also lost 4lb in 3 days and couldn’t believe it - I went on to drop two dress sizes.
We were excited and nervous at the same time, friends and family noticed the change and approached us, we made £585.00 in our first month then over £600.00 in month two then nearly £800.00 in our third month, and this was all around our full time decorating business, it was very exciting! We didn’t really know what we were doing - but it was working!!
Q. What do you think got you off to such a good start?
Gary: To be honest our start was fairly typical - We just made sure we remained teachable, listened to our sponsors attended training days and did what we were taught, everything was so simple.
Our success is definitely due to the ongoing training and support systems that every distributor has access to - they really are incredible.
Q. How is your business today, how has you life changed?
Gary / Karen : Today, Herbalife pays us at least £3000 Every month and that is still part time around our other commitments. . . . . .
We love to travel and Herbalife has offered us the opportunity to travel 3 - 4 time a year now.
Q. Where do you see your future?
Karen: In Herbalife we have the potential to earn a very good standard of living but just as importantly we saw time freedom and lifestyle - something you don’t see much of with your nose to the grindstone!! We have two beautiful daughters, and it gives us great satisfaction to know we are securing their future as well.
Q. What advice do you have for anyone considering the Herbalife opportunity?
Gary: If you’re sceptical like we were don’t let that hold you back. Just do what we did, watch the DVD, attend an Opportunity meeting and take it from there.
Honestly if we can do it anybody can!
