The Importance of Being Earnest theatre tickets, Vaudeville Theatre, London

The Importance of Being Earnest is one of the most popular plays ever written. Subtitled ‘A trivial comedy for serious people’, it is bursting with hilarious lines and extraordinary twists of fate and sparkles with the witty dialogue of its genteel protagonists.

Prim-and-proper Jack Worthington is in love with the equally prim-and-proper Gwendolyn Fairfax. His friend, Algernon Moncrieff, is in love with Cecily Cardew. But both Gwendolyn and Cecily are in love with Ernest. Add the magnificently imposing Lady Bracknell, a nanny with a dubious story about a handbag and the result is a delightful entertainment as fresh and funny as when it was first performed in 1895.

Penelope Keith, one of Britain’s best-loved actresses, was born to play Lady Bracknell. Her many previous theatre appearances include Time and the Conways, Blithe Spirit, Entertaining Angels and Relatively Speaking. Her numerous television series include the hugely successful The Good Life and To the Manor Born.

Peter Gill is one of our most distinguished and acclaimed directors. At the Royal Court Theatre in the sixties, he was responsible for introducing D H Lawrence’s plays to the theatre, and was the founding director of Riverside Studios and the National Theatre Studio. He has directed more than eighty productions in the UK. Europe and North America.

Sing-A-Long-A Rocky Horror Picture Show theatre tickets, Prince Charles Cinema, London

Keith Prowse Ticketing (part of the Seatem Group of companies) is proud to be the official online ticketing partner of Sing-a-long-a Productions in London.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (certificate 12) is the Campest Cult Classic of all time and now you can enjoy it like never before. Now with on-screen lyrics and all the favourite sing-a-long-a features, it has never been so much fun. Your live host will lead you through a choral warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award prizes but it is YOU, the audience, who are the stars as you howl the night away! Made in 1975 with Tim Curry as Frank 'n' Furter, Susan Sarandon as Janet, Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff and Meatloaf as Eddie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the craziest, most action-packed, romantic, scary Transylvanian party of all time. It's packed full of terrific numbers including 'The Timewarp', 'Sweet Transvestite', 'There's a Light', 'I'm Going Home', 'Whatever Happened To Saturday Night?' and 'Science Fiction Double Feature'. Now at long last The Rocky Horror Picture Show gets what it's been SCREAMING for - the full Sing-a-long-a treatment that you love so well. If you've done The Time Warp before, you'll never have done it quite like this! Here are a few more details about the show:

Fancy dress

It's not compulsory to dress up but many people do and it really adds to the fun. Dip into the wardrobe of your imagination and surprise us with your creation.

The pre-show

There is a 30-minute pre-film show during which the host leads you through a vocal warm-up, prepares you for special moments throughout the film and judges the fancy dress competition. Everyone receives a free goody bag with special props for the "magic moments" that make the evening go with a bang.

Running time

With pre-show, the evening lasts about 2 hours 30 mins, including an interval.

The interval

This takes place after about one and a quarter hours and lasts for 15 minutes. Most venues we play at have a bar, which is usually open throughout the evening.

Suitability for children

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 12 certificate film in the UK and so you can only attend if you are 12 or older. Much of the content of the film is raunchy and may not be suitable for the faint-hearted! Remember that the first rule of Sing-a-long-a is THERE ARE NO RULES!

Eel Marsh House stands tall, gaunt and isolated, surveying the endless flat saltmarshes beyond the Nine Lives Causeway, somewhere on England's bleak East Coast. Here Mrs Alice Drablow lived - and died - alone. Young Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is ordered by his firm's senior partner to travel up from London to attend her funeral and then sort out all her papers. His task is a lonely one, and at first Kipps is quite unaware of the tragic secrets which lie behind the house's shuttered windows. He only has a terrible sense of unease. And then, he glimpses a young woman with a wasted face, dressed all in black, at the back of the church during Mrs Drablow's funeral, and later, in the graveyard to one side of Eel Marsh House. Who is she? Why is she there? He asks questions, but the locals not only cannot or will not give him answers - they refuse to talk about the woman in black, or even to acknowledge her existence, at all. So, Arthur Kipps has to wait until he sees her again, and she slowly reveals her identity to him - and her terrible purpose.

The Woman In Black treads in the footsteps of the classic ghost story, following the tradition of Charles Dickens and M.R James, of Henry James and Edith Wharton. It is not a horror story or a tale of terror, yet the events build up to a horrifying climax and instil a sense of horror. It relies on atmosphere, a vivid sense of place, on hints and glimpses and suggestions, on what is shadowy, heard and sometimes only half-seen, to chill the reader's blood to the marrow and make reading the book alone at night inadvisable for the faint-hearted.

The Woman In Black was first performed at the theatre-by-the-sea in Scarborough back in 1987. The original production received rave reviews, paving the way for future productions throughout the country. It reached the West End in 1989 where it has been a major audience puller ever since. Its success has subsequently reached a global level, having spread to the US, South America and through to the Tokyo theatre scene, and beyond.

Unanimously acclaimed by the critics and now celebrating over 14 years in the West End, The Woman In Black combines the power and intensity of live theatre with the cinematic quality of film noir.
