A laptop cover
makes a great gift at any time of year - especially if it's a custom-made one.
A laptop
cover is a self-adhesive image that you apply to the lid of a laptop

If you can't find the lap top cover design you're looking for why
not design your own. Here's what you need to do:
- Find a picture that you like (NB: you have to own the copyright
of the photo you choose for your laptop cover so images of your
cat, car or family holiday snaps are OK but 'borrowing' a photo
off Flickr is not)
- Alternatively
if you are handy with Adobe Photo shop or the Gimp then you can
create your own unique image
- Your
chosen image needs to be landscape format (that is wider than it
is tall and not the other way round - that's portrait)
- The
format of the image file can be jpg, jpeg, gif, png, tif, tiff,
pdf
- Ideally,
the longest side of your picture needs to be at
least 2000 pixels or preferably 3500. You can upload a smaller image
but the final quality can't be guaranteed to be as good
- The
resolution of your image should ideally be 300dpi (that's dots per
inch). If you are using an image from a digital camera that should
be OK but one from a mobile phone may have a smaller dpi and the
end quality won't be anywhere near as good
- Choose
the positioning of your laptop cover (stretched to cover the whole
lid, positioned top left, centre or even tiled)
- Select
the manufacturer and model from a drop-down list or measure your
laptop and enter the dimensions
- Popular manufacturers include Acer, Apple, Dell, Evesham, IBM,
Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Rock or you can order your laptop covers
in generic sizes (12, 15 and 17 inch)
