The new Nintendo DSi console was released on 3rd April 2009. This is an upgraded version of the popular Nintendo DS Lite console.
Whilst these consoles are popular with parents to keep children occupied, the compact nature of the DS game cartridges often infuriates when the original cartridges get lost.
Whilst the Nintendo DSi is backwards compatible with the Nintendo DS, it does mean that there is still the same risk of kids losing the games cartridges. That is an expensive loss when the games cost an average of around £25.

Nintendo DSi v1.4 Firmware Updates
Older cards will not support a DSi that has been upgraded to v1.4 of the Nintendo Firmware. First check your Firmware :
1. Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main DSi menu
2. Look at right hand corner of the top screen which will show VER 1.x

Nintendo DSI
The Nintendo DSi launched in the UK on Friday 3rd April 2009.
Whilst it is not a leap forward from the original DS Lite, it is one of the biggest product launches of the year and is likely to be a 2009 best seller.
Nintendo also usually fail to provide sufficient stock to support demand ... remember the scarcity of the Nintendo Wii and more recently, the Wii Fit?
If you intend buying the Nintendo DSi as a gift in the foreseeable future, it may be advisable to place an order early as it is not yet clear how well supply will meet the demand.
