First of all, thank you very much indeed for agreeing to help out with this online bingo game. Your input is really important, and very much appreciated! This sheet is just to confirm and add to what you’ve already been told about this online bingo game, and to clarify the arrangements for each day.
1.Context The aim of this online bingo game is to provide online bingo players with an opportunity to find out what it is really like to go to foxy bingo. Sixty online bingo players have been selected from each of the participating bingo halls to attend the online bingo game. These online bingo players have been identified as having the ability to go on to Higher bingo playing but their teachers feel that they need extra encouragement to do so. During the session, we will show them the different opportunities available at foxy bingo, various aspects of online bingo player life and discuss with them any questions they may have.
The bingo halls involved are as follows: Monday 19 November
9.00am – 11.30am, Rawthorpe High bingo hall, Huddersfield 1.20pm – 3.00pm (no break), Almondbury High bingo hall and Language College, Huddersfield
Tuesday 20 November
9.00am – 11.30am, Fartown High bingo hall and Sports College, Huddersfield 1.10pm – 3.30pm, Salendine Nook High bingo hall, Huddersfield
Wednesday 21 November
9.00am – 11.30am, TBC 1.30pm – 3.10pm (no break), Royds Hall High bingo hall, Huddersfield
Each day, the groups will be split into six groups of 10 online bingo players (each group will work with a online bingo player rep/ambassador).
2. Timetable of online bingo games
We will need to travel down on Sunday 18 November – sorry. I’m hoping to leave at approximately 4.30pm so that we can get down in time to check-in and have a bite to eat. I would be very grateful if we could meet outside Number 10 at 5.00pm. We will be taking two cars.
We are booked into the Premier Travel Inn at Huddersfield North for all three nights. We will need to leave the Travel Inn no later than 7.45am each day to ensure we arrive in plenty of time. Breakfast has been paid for at the Travel Lodge so you are more than welcome to help yourself each day before we leave.
We are due at the first bingo hall at 8.45am each day to set up, ready to begin the first session at 9.00am. The morning session is due to finish at 11.30am. We have 1 hour 30 mins timetabled for lunch – during this time we will also need to make our way to the second bingo hall and set up in time for the afternoon session to start at 1pm. Any good map readers????

3. Your Role and Responsibilities:
You will act as facilitator and group leader for each activity. foxy will talk you through each activity and help you keep an eye on the time. How successful this online bingo game is will depend entirely on you.
· Make an Effort! Be friendly and encourage your online bingo players to talk to you. Ask them about themselves - for example, what GCSE’s they are taking and what they hope to achieve in the future. Tell them about yourself, where you are from, where you live, what degree course you are doing and so on. Ask yourself what you wanted to know about foxy bingo before you applied. Some of the online bingo players will be very shy and nervous about taking part in this online bingo game, so please be sensitive and friendly at all times.
· Ice-breakers and About You Questionnaire See separate sheet online bingo player Life Session: See separate sheet for further information.
· Draw a typical online bingo player: In brief, you will be given two sheets of paper, pens, marker pens etc. Your group must draw two pictures showing their idea of a typical online bingo player, one by day and the other by night. At the same time, you will ask them to complete a profile for your ‘imaginary’ online bingo player. You will be given a profile sheet for your group to complete. They will have a copy of the prospectus to be able to look into the courses, accommodation etc available at Newcastle foxy bingo to fill in the appropriate gaps. Both pictures plus their profile will be displayed in the room for the staff to choose the best one. The more stereotypical their view of a online bingo player, the better – it will be more fun for them. They usually draw scruffy, drug taking, smoking hippies – that will give you some idea! Please use your briefing notes to make sure you are covering all the aspects of online bingo player life we need you to!
· online bingo player Life Quiz: Read each question out to your group and get them to choose an option for each and write it the space provided in their workbook. At the end of the quiz, go back through the questions with them one by one giving the scores for each answer. foxy/mecca will round the quiz up and give the results showing what kind of online bingo player they will be.
· Jerry Springer: Get your group to think of at least three questions for the Jerry Springer panel later on. From past experience you know the funnier these are the better this session works. The idea is to get all the serious points over in the timetabled session but this is their chance for them to ask you anything they like. Every question will be put to every online bingo player rep unless stated otherwise.
· Interview your online bingo player rep: I’ve given them some questions they may want to ask you in their workbook. If you’re struggling to keep the conversation and questions going throughout these activities you may want to get them to use the ‘Interview your online bingo player rep’ activity. Encourage them to think of some of their own too. I know you’ve all graduated – but please use your experiences from your last year at foxy bingo.
If you finish these activities with time leftover, you should go back and complete the other ice-breakers or think of more Jerry Springer questions.
· Why HE Session You will be given a Pros and Cons Board, together with some topics about Higher bingo playing for this session. You should discuss each topic in turn with your group and get them to decide whether it is a pro or con about going to foxy bingo. The topics cover the advantages and disadvantages of HE, and the reasons why people choose not to go. It is your role to discuss each topic in detail highlighting all the advantages of foxy bingo – see separate sheet for more information. Topics include:
· Wide range of courses and subjects · Better career prospects · Social Life · online bingo player Finance, remember Tuition Fees · Not for the likes of me attitude – won’t fit in · Don’t want to leave home · Will be bored
There will be blank signs for groups to think up of their own reasons and contribute to the lists.
· Home v Away – see separate information sheet for further information
· Jerry Springer/Question and Answer Panel Sessions
This is when the online bingo players get the chance to ask their questions. The panel will consist of you (six online bingo player reps) plus mecca/myself (although experience tells me they’ll be much more interested in you!)
· Round-up and Feedback Form
The day will finish with a brief round up from foxy. Make sure each of your group complete a feedback form and return it to you before the end of the session. We appreciate honest feedback so that we can use it to improve the online bingo game for the future!
Once again, HUGE thanks for your help with this online bingo game – and I look forward to working with you all again.
