Boho Chic and Seventies - the new boho chic is a more polished and glam version of last years trend. The look inspired by seventies Glastonbury was shown at designer shows by Etro, Matthew Williamson, Alexander McQueen, Biba, Emilio Pucci, Pierre Balmain and Just Cavalli.
Floral Prints - For Spring/ Summer 08, floral prints are everywhere. This key trend was seen on the catwalk at Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Ralf Lauren, Marni, Moschino, Temperely, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Roberto Cavalli. Opt for bold and bright flower prints or feminine soft prints which ever suits you best.
Fifties Style Full Skirts - Fifties skirts were seen everywhere on the catwalk at the spring summer 08 catwalk shows. Designer labels including Gucci, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Asprey, Prada, Giles, Oscar De La Renta, Nicole Fahri and Marni showed full and swishy fifties style skirts.
Softly Structured Tailoring - A key trend in designer and high street clothes for spring summer 08 is the softly structured tailoring seen on the catwalk at Jil Sander, Narcisco Rodrigez, Yves St Larent, Cavin Klein, Stella McCartney, Lanvin and Jens Laugesen. The look is feminine with a great cut and defined shoulders.
Nautical Stars and Stripes - America and nautical is a key influence for spring summer 08 with designers showing stars and stripes on the catwalk. This trend was seen at Chanel, Yves St Laurent, Jean Paul Gautier, Paul Smith, Salvatore Ferragamo, Anna Sui, Emilio Pucci, Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti,Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera and John Rocha.
Abstract Art - A key trend for spring summer 08 is abstract and artists prints. This look was shown on the catwalk by designers including Fendi, Chloe, Dacs, Moschino Cheap and Chic, Sportsmax, Dolce and Gabbana, Pringle, Zac Posen and Marni. The look includes geometric and swirling prints, brush strokes, water colour and dying effects incorporating lots of experimentation with colour.

They were seen on the designer catwalk at Giles, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Giambatista Valli, Roberto Cavilli, Zac Posen and Viktor and Rolf. The key to this trend is extravagant and exquisite odornments and detail, layered, pleated, folded and feathered gowns in soft neutral colours.
Floaty and Sheer - Floaty and sheer dresses are a key designer trend for spring summer 08. The key to this look is long softly draping sheer layers of materials such as chiffon and organza in neutral colours showing sporty of fifties style lingerie. This look was seen on the catwalk at Givenchy, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Giambattista Valli, Sophia Kokosolaki and Alexander McQueen.
Safari - Safari style was a key trend on the catwalk for spring summer 08. Designers showed collections in neutral colours with colonial Africa as a key influence. Belted jackets and smart shorts in khaki, beige and sand were the key to this look. Chiffon and tulle were used to give a softer edge to this look.
Global Style- Global style was seen everywhere on the catwalk for spring summer 08, from Indian Saris to Japanese Kimonos, Tribal African prints and Native American Embroidery. Designers showing this key trend included Missoni, Hermes, Marchesa, Prada, Issey Miyake, Dior by John Galliano, etro, Oscar De La Renta and Mathew Williamson.
